In the 2014 general elections BJP came out as the biggest political party. Narendra Modi became the 14th prime minister of the country. He became the first Prime Minister who contested from two different seats and won at both.

2014 Indian General election were the biggest ever elections in the world. A  record 66.38% voters turned out to vote.

Lok Sabha the lower house of the Parliament consists of 545 seats.The general election 2019 will be fought on 543 seats. The Other 2 candidates are nominated by the President from Anglo-Indian community.

General election dates 2019:  To form the government a party need at least 272 seats. This number also called as the magic number. Different parties can also come together to form a government. NDA (national democratic Alliance) and UPA (United progressive Alliance) are the two biggest alliances in India. UPA led by Congress and NDA is led by BJP.

In the early years of Modi government it was believed that BJP will easily come to power again in 2019. But recently BJP lost in the state elections of Chhattisgarh Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It was a big setback for BJP.

The upcoming general elections have now become very interesting. Which party will come to power is not certain now. Various political parties are now coming together to fight against BJP.  This alliance is given the name of “Mahagathbandhan”.

The old and permanent friends of the BJP party like Shivsena are also criticizing the current government. This makes the upcoming elections even more interesting.

BJP government’s decision to give 10% reservation to economically backward classes can prove to be the trump card in general election 2019.
